How to get this look? possible plugin?

Hi,

I am wondering what this Urban Graphic Designer (credit given to Grap) does to achieve the look he has on his flyers? Is it a possible filter/plugin that he is using? If so, do any of you all know what plugin that could possibly achieve this look. Would like to try it to see how it would look on a sample photo to retouch.......

Thanks

I don't get the look you're interested in achieving... Is it the "contrastyness" of some of the clothes? You could try to do that by using Unsharpen mask, after the filter is applied you can play with the opacity and mask what ever places you don't want it seen.

I don't think there's too much work in the look, I think it would be more time to cut and paste the people and backgrounds...

hmmm...maybe I didn't post good examples but all of his work has this smooth (& shiny) look to it on the people skin...like its been ran through a filter or something.

I don't remember where it is in this forum, but there is a tutorial on smudging you should find or someone else if they can. Very similar style IMHO.

Maybe you can see it better on these images, especially the 3rd photo (the one with the kids)

All of his work looks like this....its not just on their skin but the whole graphic design flyer is like that...he's a graphic designer not a retoucher...I am interested in trying this look on some practice photos to retouch because I am a beginner photographer

idk maybe my eyes are tripping lol but I am seeing a certain look on these people skin

namphoto....Thanks I will look it up and see

try duplicating the layer, using high pass cranked wayyyyyy up, put it on hard light, back it off a bit until you like it.

make the original a little smooth too before duplicating, helps with some of the harsh edges.

not perfect but pretty close

it also has to do with how the photos where taken, looks like they where taken with bare flash. Again try the Highpass aproach and the Unsharp mask aproach to see if it comes to what you want. Later for "skin smoothness" you can blur and then use a mask to cover only the skin

came across this artwork a couple years ago. took me the whole night to find it (but it's totally worth it new skill set in my arsenal. he works from photos. it has that airbrush look to it. he was very kind enough to show his technique. very similar to the look ur after (even better imo).
