Re: ban on retouching!

twiggy is an easy example because of her age but there's countless shots of young models , actresses etc eg Cameron Diaz , Britney Spears , Denise Van Outen caught offguard on a bad day & they look totally shabby & average simply without any makeup, designer cloth & flattering light etc ...so by the rash reasoning in these little campaigns why stop at retouching when there's so much more to ban ... like Christmas since there's no real Santa...Vote Lib Dem!

This has to be the worst airbrushing I have ever seen in terms of making someone look younger it's completely unnatural and untrue. In my opinion, it's totally misleading to the customer.'
you drew a short straw on that one Sinisa. There's going to be a few more examples pulled out of the woodwork to support this story soon I reckon.

Quote:
Airbrushing expert Michelle Facey said the amount of work done to wizard away the signs of aging in the advert picture …
'Airbrushing expert' eh? -maybe she thinks you did it with an Airbrush, and she's wondering how on earth you got that.

'advert picture' !! - On the subject of criticising professions we know nothing about: I think The Mail needs to get journalists involved that are UNDER 65 years old.

Re: ban on retouching!

I agree!

What's actually misleading is publishing this picture on a cheap paper and/or greatly reduced in size which gets rid off all the detail! This was retouched to be printed large, high quality printing. When you zoom in to 100% on hi res file, you see ALL skin pores and lines on the skin.

The airbrushing expert from Liverpool? No comment.

Re: ban on retouching!

Well I'm completely against that movement "no retouch" meh we're always more interested in "perfect" people than real ones. I don't know if you guys saw the "no retouch" covers of a french magazine? I really didn't like them.

I'm thinking that the problem isn't really the retouch but when its used incorrectly like the adds of a makeup company that feature Monica Bellucci the retouch is soo bad you can't see a pore and she looks a bit chinese in the photo....

Re: ban on retouching!

Wow, excellent job, Sinisa (proclaimed retouch wizard by DailyMail). Does this proposed retouch ban extend to all advertising images such as cars, tires, beverages on the rocks... ? Or just women the politicians wives are jealous of?
Lets ban makeup also, it changes the way women look too.

Re: ban on retouching!

The covers I was talking about where on french Elle with the tittle "STARS sans fards" not only where they not interesting they didn't even use lighting to "beautify" the stars.

Here's a link to the covers http://chicinparis.files.wordpress.c...sans-fards.jpg

Re: ban on retouching!

Call me crazy...but when comparing the two images, the retouched one doesn't seem that far off to me. Have these people ever seen what shooting in a "beauty room" (four white reflector cards with a central elevated beauty dish) can do? Good lighting alone can reduce lines and wrinkles before the image even makes it to the retoucher. And jesus, since when do consumers expect 'reality'?? I think you did a great job.
