Re: Berlin Retouching

Well sometimes compression isn't the factor as to why an image isn't sharp. What process are you using for resizing? In photoshop normally bicubic sharper is the way to go. Also when doing save for web... in photoshop make sure you don't blur the image (since there's an option that lets you do that).
Other than that you can use USM, highpass or the technique of your choice to sharpen before you save for web.

Re: Berlin Retouching

Brilliant, Many Thanks.

Do you think it's safe to get one right, and run an action?? Or is it worthwhile to do each one independently?

Going to be a major job, I'll post back once I've done it...

Re: Berlin Retouching

um depends, if the problem was the resizing or the "blur add" in save for web, then I wouldn't see a problem. If on the other hand that was not the problem you would have to see what's what.

Personally I only do batch anything on photos for my portfolios that has to do with something like resizing, adding a watermark, etc.

Re: Berlin Retouching

if you begin with your full size image, and are then going to take it down and get it ready for the web , go into image size, inut whatever values you are going to use, hit ok, then run filter sharpen on it and then fade the sharpen and then go into save for web. then adjust your file size there. it seems that the downsize can take the crisp off the images , so maybe you can try hitting it with a subtle sharpen after you have rezd down

Re: Berlin Retouching

When you are saving the jpg make sure you use "Save for Web" instead of just "Save As". If you use Save As your file will be larger than the optimization that Save for Web will give you.

Re: Berlin Retouching

yeah, just remember save for web removes the exif data on images (to save space), so if exif data is important to you use save as, if not save for web

Wow, really impressive images. Really nice to see the Cases. Fantastic work on the horses, among other things.

Re: Berlin Retouching

I didn't know that Cuervo, I have never had the need to use that data on web projects but it is good to know that save for web removes it.

Re: Berlin Retouching

In CS4, Save for Web gives you the option to save exif data too if you wish.
