What brush settings to get these kind of strokes?

Ok so I finally caved and got myself a wacom tablet. It's my first one so it's taking a bit of getting used to but I wanted to ask what settings do I need to play with to get these kind of strokes. In particular the ones on her shoulders and arms. Is it fade with pen pressure switched on? I can't seem to get it looking anything like the one below.

This pic is just one of the layers from an Amy Dresser tutorial.

Thanks

Re: What brush settings to get these kind of strok

I think you can tryo to do first pass using just your normal soft brush, and than blur it with gaussian blur filter. And than do the second pass with hard edge brush to get the something like the example you posted.

Or try going under brush settings in photoshop and deactivate "shape dynamics" and activate "other dynamics". Under opacity jitter choose control: pen pressure.

See if that helps!

So far I have managed to get the same sort of effect by doing gentle dabbing of brush strokes.

Definitely pen pressure with opacity, largish soft brush but with the brush set to about 30% opacity itself. build it up from there
