Re: Beauty retouch psd

I agree it's all about personal preference,
but as I said for me personally looked bit too Y-ish...

and specifically in the shadow transitions looked like between the shadow and the lit skin there was "more colour" (not only luminance change, but also colour change)

but as pointed a few times now it's all about personal preference
(I was wondering if it was a problem with the calibration here, but doesn't matter)

thanks again for sharing, it's great work
cheers

Exclamation the case for painting by numbers...

however it's good to check your numbers occasionally... because we should not trust our eyes when it comes to colours

take a look at this... and if you think the middle element has different colours... think again... check the colour numbers.
I promise you'll be surprised.

Those optical illusions are intersting but you never will find such thing in regular photos.

Mostly just fiddly around with it, till it looks right. Don't have a skin chart

Re: Beauty retouch psd

Skin color charts are a huge waste of time, and pointless both in theory and practice. Any color is a composite of basic hue, luminance, reflected light, ambient light. Skin is also not completely opaque. We are also used to things such as film stock and developing/post affecting color. Of all of these factors, basic hue is the least important - so the idea that you can generate series of 'correct' numbers for skin tones is just complete nonsense. Light and conditions vary far too much for this - quite obviously I would have thought.

Its another case of many years of poor advice being presented as fact - from people with basic logic and conceptual problems like Lee Varis and Dan Margulis.

Stop making me like you! is not worth it

I always recommend LOOKING at Lee Varis's work before buying the book
