While we are discussing tablets..can we also include the pen. I only have the pen that came with the Intuos 3. Are the other pens worth having?

I got a big Intuos 3. Be careful you dont get it too big, it can get tiring. Its not necessary to have them massive.

Re: What could be the best tablet ??

I've got the Intuos4 medium and had the Bamboo before that and I cant even compare the two. Going from mouse to Bamboo is almost as big of a change as from bamboo to Intuos for me, with the added control and above all feeling of the tablet itself. And adding to that all the express keys and the wheel thingie!
I myself fell for the tip with a "rubbery" feel to it, only one of those included.

Also, if I'm not mistaken Wacom just released a new version of the bamboo which looks like it's worth a second look.

I agree, but it's worth mentioning that in the Wacom control panel you can scale down the working area of the tablet (see "mapping"). I do this even on my 6x8 tablet because I hate having my pen slip off the edge of the tablet surface while reaching for the edge of the screen. Mapping all the edges in 1/2" - 3/4" all around is much more comfortable to me. If I had a large tablet I'd probably map it down to something close to 6x8 or 5x7 for everyday retouching.

buy the best one you can afford. Id recommend the wacom intuos. Stretch, spend the money, its not something youll be throwing away or replacing anytime soon. have had my 9x12 for 3 years and i cant live without it

I think getting a Intous 3 is a good idea.. The sell them at ebay for 200 the 6x8! .. but there is no problem with pens or those accessories if the tablet is actually discontinued?
