What's the best way to add gloss to lips?

I'm working with some photos that have lips that need to pop a bit more and I'd like to make it look like the model had lip gloss. Right now they appear a bit matte.

What's the best technique for doing this?

I have seen techniques using the plastic warp or chrome effect, but never tried...

Hmm, anyone else? I've tried some of those but wasn't successful.

Probably using some styles with bevel and emboss and some configuration. there are really great styles in the Internet that may work the way you want. At the end, what makes the feeling of gloss is the specular light. If you can mimic that you have it.

I need a tutorial or technique that shows how to actually add gloss and make the lips shiny.

Anyone else know of a technique?

I just tried a few tutorials I found that use the Plastic Wrap filter and I'm not liking it at all.

Not sure what to do now. There must be another way to add shine to an object.

Could you post some lips you need to glossify so we can see what we can do and then provide suggestions

You can post fairly large pictures which are under 100k using the save for web function in Photoshop as described here:
Size, Quality and/or Format your Attached Images.. (Click here)
This may also help some... How to attach Files/Images to your Posts or Threads?(Click here)

If you want to post a larger resolution that is over 100K then you can host your image on your own site or elsewhere and attach a link, but also please attach an under 100K version here (so the thread remains useful in the future, regardless of external links).
Alternative Image Hosts if you do not have your own site are: ImageVenue.com (3Meg max, free) or pixentral.com (2Meg max, free) or photobucket.com (1 Meg max free,... 5 Meg PRO) or mediafire.com (100 Meg per file) ... then post a link here in the thread to the site that is hosting your larger image.

Sure. Here's an example but I do want something that can be used universally so the example is only helpful in that is has a specular highlight but outside of that highlight there is a rather dull appearance to the lips.

Re: What's the best way to add gloss to lips?

stay away from filters, and bs tutorials, they will get you unrealistic photoshopped results.

I had to make dry lips super over the top wet and glossy for a ad about 2 years ago, can't find the psd, but i remember i went about it by studying shots of images of wet lips that i found on google, and in makeup ads...and basically got my contrst and color in place with curves and whatnot, then to make that wet glossy feel...i had to brush with a hard edge brush on a layer, with oure white, knock back the opacity to my taste, and then bring that layer into liquify and warp it a bit to give it that natural flow along the lips. you can try smudge tool, but that might make it too soft. just remember if the lips are wet and shiny, there will be a major highlight going on and range of highlight s and shadows and contrast.
