Try applying noise to smoothed skin (In PS, Filter>Noise>Add Noise. Check Uniform and Monochromatic).

I think this look has more to do with the lighting than retouching. Aside from the back side lighting, it looks like the photographer used a large ring light to produce an axial lighting look.

Yep, very good textural lighting with very good D&B retouch.
On the other hand, the texture on her dress(or what every it is) is very much similar to her skin texture...

Thank you all very much for your inputs! As I look closely, her skin has some "3D" texture, the dots has some depth, not just an adding noise. I tried putting metallic flake cosmetic when make up the talent for shooting but still can't work out. I think it's a retouching work.

Re: Newbie need help to achive this skin texture

I still think a lot has to do with the lighting, but I did take a closer look at her dress and it looks like a "film grain" was added. I tried to recreate this as best I could. I didn't have the same lighting and the image I used was not a high res image to start with. The effect is applied to part of this image, the edge running through the eye. What I did was made a layer & filled with 50% gray. I took this into NIK Silver Eflex and applied the maximum film grain in hardness. Back in ps I made a threshold adj layer then applied a gausian blur to the grain layer, this in combination with the threshold layer let me control the size of the grain. Once I got the size I wanted, I merged the threshold with the grain layer, used the magic wand tool and selected the black areas and deleted them. Set fill opacity to 0 and applied bevel & emboss to match the lighting more or less. Then applied another gaussian blur to soften the edges. Set this layer to overlay mode and apply a luminosity mask to reduce the effect in the shadows.

After uploading this, with the small file size, it's a bit hard to see the effect and could me made stronger by duping the texture layer and/or adjusting the layer mask.

They could have also used a sandstone texture with an opacity layer mask.

i agree with csuebele too, alot has to do with pre-production in the photography. that in mind, yes it is the lighting and yes it could be that they applied some sort of spray or lotion to capture that glow. its not to say the least on the digital part that the effect can't be created as stated above.

Re: Newbie need help to achive this skin texture

I also agree with Johnny about perhaps some lotion or makeup was applied to accentuate the lighting. I did play around with the previous image some more using the sandstone texture. What I did was make a layer filled with 50%gray again and applied a sandstone texture. I duped that layer. One I named as lighten the other darken. On the lighten layer, I fill it with 50% gray again but in lighten mode then set the layer blend to vivid light. The darken layer, I filled with 50% gray but in darken mode and set the layer's blend to overlay. This allows you to control the highlights and shadows of the sandstone texture independently. I then applied a positive luminosity layer mask to the lighten layer and a negative or inverted luminosity layer mask to the darken layer. Here's a better resolution image on Flickr.

Again, the effect is running down the eye with & without.
