Tutorials finally up on carrienyc

I've been getting hate mail because I promised tutorials on my website and never forked them over! We'll maybe not 'hate', more like 'what give's' mail.
So there are 4 little fun Tut's up now; please let me know if you enjoy them.
Happy retouching to ALL

Carrie

Jonas, it should be working, try googling me Carrie Beene and navigate to the site that way.

Loyd, never anything improper with 'love' mail, I love it, thanks!

Re: Tutorials finally up on carrienyc

Wow this is fantastic!!!! I have only gotten round to the glamour retouch 1 so far but I love it. This is also the first time I have seen someone switch on the airbrush button for when doing d&b on the skin.

Thanks again

Re: Tutorials finally up on carrienyc

Hi, great hi-end fashion retouching. Could I ask what type of screen recording software you used for the tutorials and the green circle highlight tool. Doesn't look like ScreenFlow.

Thanks for the help

Steve

Nice Tut..

I have a question, why do you work in cmyk instead of Rgb?

Re: Tutorials finally up on carrienyc

We used ishowu HD to make the videos, the little green circle was a preference.

CMYK vs RGB

It’s an ongoing debate, but it’s more a personal than anything. I prefer to work in CMYK because my final output will be printed in that color space and I feel it is easier to start off there from the beginning rather than to convert my RGB file to CMYK at the end and have unwanted color shifts.

Plus I have some cool tricks that work in that color space

Thanks Guys

Carrie

Re: Tutorials finally up on carrienyc

Carrie, saw both your RetouchPro broadcasts, and your online tuts as well.

I'm looking forward to more product retouching demos from you.

Perhaps one of your cosmetics shot with lots of reflections?

Re: Tutorials finally up on carrienyc

Ah, I finally had the chance to watch your videos :-) (don't ask me why but they didn't load up in Mozilla Firefox, in Internet Explorer they worked just fine).
I think the videos are great; I especially enjoyed the "Details" video, it's always interesting to see how others work.

Hi Carrie, thanks for letting us know about your screen recording software. I went to the website and they have 2 recording software titles, one is the Pro HD which I assume you have. These programs are less expensive that ScreenFlow, but they are all great programs.

I come from a pre-press background and we always worked in CMYK for printed ads and had an RGB version for websites.

Re: Tutorials finally up on carrienyc

Yes, it's going to have to be CMYK eventually and it's always less of a problem converting from CMYK to RGB than the other way around. The only issue is if they make a duratrans of the file then you have to make an rgb version, but I find the duratrans always needs a little more retouching than the proof anyway; both for color and texture.

Re: Tutorials finally up on carrienyc

Thank you for sharing your skills Carrie, I found your tutorials very informative and easy to follow. Much love to you :-)

Can I please ask how you compressed the models face and smoothed out the cracked lips because my lip smoothing attempt looks nothing like your great result.

Did you use content aware scaling for the face compression? For the lips, I dunno, a pointer in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Thanks!
Ram
