How do I get rid of hot spots

How do I get rid of the shiny spots on people's faces caused by lights or flash? I'm using PS CS4. Thank You.

Re: How do I get rid of hot spots

If the areas have not been blown to pure white there are many options. The patch tool, the clone tool, a Selective Color Adj layer, a Curve Adj layer set to color blend mode, the Burn tool,.... and the list goes on. Try attaching a sample image and you will see examples of how other members would go about correcting it.
Regards, Murray

Clone tool set to darken and about 30% opacity, on a separate layer works ok for me.

You can also convert it to lab, create a new layer, set it to color blending mode, sample to color around the hot spot and paint it over. (works only in lab)

I find the best way is to seperate the frequencies first. Then you can easily reduce the hotspots to taste using the tone layer.
