B&W can't decide?

I made 2 BW conversions of a photo I shot (with sigma DP2) in India.
Which one is better?

I had problems with the size.
Not perfect but better.

I like the second one also, maybe darken the background a bit though to bring the subjects out.

The left one has got visible sharpening artifacts.

Right one i find slightly too soft.

Research edge masking for sharpening and local contrast techniques.

I love the warm tones in the 2nd one, but you could probably increase the sharpness a bit.

I decide to leave it in color.
It's the original and the retouche one.
