3d pictures...

hello everyone, right now i'm working on the preproduction of a new campaign here. the last one was using blacklights etc which can be seen on
http://www.flickr.com/photos/gkayaca...7622267102005/

on the new one we gonna change the concept and will make 3D pictures.
we gonna use two 5DMKII with wide angles etc etc etc.

take two pics + strobes all sync by pocketwizards etc.
to the end we gonna look out for something close to that (the effect, not the subject/postprod) then merging/compositing

http://www.davehillphoto.com/upload/...ure3dsmall.jpg

i've got few clues etc.

anyway, does anyone of u ever tried it before?
any tips? links? cool infos to share to every1 myself included?
be sure at the end i'll share the entire journey so it can help few fellow people here !

Re: 3d pictures...

Just make sure your two cameras are at an eye's distance apart. That's all I know!

Re: 3d pictures...

Here is how you can create the 3d image (anaglyph).
Place the 'right' image above the 'left' image.
For the 'right' image, turn off the 'R' Channel in 'Layer Style/Blending Options/Advanced Blending'
Thats it. Throw on your glasses and it will work.

Heres another tip... Convert to CMYK for print, and most of your 3D goodness will look like sh!t. Its because the bright red and bright green displayed on your display are not in the cmyk colourspace. You need to contact a printer who specialises in stereoscopic printing.

I hope thats what you were after.
take care, Sheldon.

You might be lucky enough to use lens in a cap 3D from Loreo; my camera's threads, unforuntunately, don't fit the products threads and already got a email from them saying that you can't use a thread convertor to use it.

Re: 3d pictures...

yes, this is an anaglyph and done quite nicely, i might add. to view it properly you'll need 3D glasses with the red in the left eye and blue in the right. there are several types of 3D images, the anaglyphs being just one type and the red/blue configuration being just one type. you might also want to search 'chromagraph', '3D images', 'Anaglyph', 'chromadepth', 'american paper optics', and 'polarizing' to name a few.

and yes, filter forge does some really nice anaglyphs. do a search over there for that word and for the author CF&M. really cool stuff
