Question Skin color

In most retouches the skin color of the model is changed, cold or something.
(Like here : http://Nienna1990.deviantart.com/art...ouch-127123012)
I would really like to get this effect. I tried Dodge and Burn, but i can't work with that technique becuz i'm really bad at it

Mostly i try desaturating on a duplicated layer and set it on screen... but this doesn't always work, does anyone have a good tutorial or explanation of how to get this effect?

Re: Skin color

Reading the comments by the artist does wonders to understanding how it is done... She states on that page that there is a video of the process for that particular picture... "A video walkthrough of this retouch, now published (see my journal)

Scroll down to "6 months later - another video is here!"

As i mentioned before, i'm really bad at using D&B technique. I know that she uses it for her retouches, plus i have already seen the video

Re: Skin color

Then a head-start might be a softlight, white layer above your working layer (using a mask as a sort of burn area for the dark/shadow areas, using a low opacity black brush).. then another white, softlight layer above that one (if needed) ... masked to bring back the shadows

This should give you a pretty good starting point...

Example here (just noticed I CAN'T spell... LOL, Oh well!!)

Re: Skin color

Make a Gradient Map adjustment layer and choose a black-to-white one.
Set the blending mode to Soft Light.
Mask the areas which seem too dark. Or make a Curves adj. layer and shape the curve depending on your needs.
