Haha... This is funny. However, it will change my life saying that the website looks like porn or whatever thing? No, so... Why wasting the time insulting each others? Go retouch! =D

Re: Mastering Retouching DVD by Nick Saglimbeni.

I love this thread. Very entertaining indeed! I personally think, if you are a novice / or not really doing retouching day in and day out on a professional level for e.g. (paying rent, buying food), then this is probably a really nice set of tutorials, I would go for it if I were a newbie / semi pro trying to break in to the biz.

I would love to see it myself, I always love to see other pro retoucher's work flow, it is always fun and interesting to see how other people get their results. Bottom line is, is that it is a lot of heavy lifting, patience and an "eye" for killer results, and I really hope that is what Nick will give you in his course.

I don't know the guy personally, but I work in the same city as he does, Los Angeles /Hollywood. He is not a direct competitor, since I work with Motion Picture Publicity and Record labels, so I will give him accolades for his work and some free publicly.

I may try to contact him though, He is good at what he does. Hell, I have done this for the past 12 years, and he says that he has done it for the past 5 years, and I am thinking, wow this guy is kickin' butt!

Re: Mastering Retouching DVD by Nick Saglimbeni.

I totally agree with @Flashtones and find it quite disappointing that Nick hasn’t provided detailed information / deeper explanation (here or on his website) of what the series entails (detailed outline, additional video samples, or a non-biased review by a familiar face around here) up till now, although many people have repeatedly asked for it.

I am basically interested in the series and would be willing to pay USD 299 for it, as I am always looking to improve my retouching skills, although I am not willing to „buy the pig in a poke“ for that kind of money. By the time the requested information will finally be available the pre-order period will have expired and the series will cost USD 499. It need not be mentioned that the value then has to meet the new price and that’s a totally new challenge.

I respect and thank Natalia Taffarel and Hot Pixel LLC for the detailed information on the content of their Beauty & Hair Retouching DVD and for the video samples. Although the product is also “pricey” at USD 199 it was quite easy to make a buying decision. I felt well informed and pre-ordered the DVD even before @mistermonday reviewed it here. All required information (even the non-biased review) was provided during the pre-order period. No buying the pig in a poke here. Thanks by the way to @mistermonday for the great review and the time invested. Very well done.

So as @Flashtones mentioned (at least for most of us) it’s not about the integrity of the people behind the products. It’s all about the value of the product itself and people are apparently missing out on some information on the DVD-Series from Slickforce. It seems there is some homework to be done.

just my 5 cents

Thumbs up Re: Mastering Retouching DVD by Nick Saglimbeni.

I have been reading at this for DAYS and I guess today is the BIG in when the DVD's comes out so CONGRATS NICK on getting even riches. Alot of you guys have been asking "who is this guys?" Well I sure dont know but I know his work, he has worked with THE MOST beautiful people in the industry like Kim Kardashian and Vida Guerra (who just made their 100 cover) and all the Maxim Girls. If you go to his website you'll see a little bit more about him. As for the product it looks AMAZING and the reason I say that its because I have seen his work before and OMG I will love to shoot with this guy but if his series is $500 I can image a photo shoot, I will love to own this but it is just WAYYYYY to expensive for my budget. Best of luck to you Nick and hopefully some day (maybe next year when the price drops) I will be able to own you series which look amazing, Good Work

Smile Re: Mastering Retouching DVD by Nick Saglimbeni.

Thank you guys and gals for the latest round of positivity and well wishes, that means a lot. It's been an intense yet insanely awesome week!

I know some of you have gotten your download links, and some of you are still waiting. Please know that I am working round-the-clock to insure that everyone has their link codes by midnight tonight PST. Remember that we are based in Los Angeles, so to our customers in Australia, UAE, and Singapore: I know it's after midnight where you are but I swear it's still the 30th in LA! :P They're coming soon, I promise!

Seriously, though, thank you all for being so patient. I don't think Fastspring (our download delivery company and processor) anticipated such high volume, and they're working feverishly to crank out the unique download codes for pre-order customers, which have to be generated manually (orders starting tomorrow will create codes for instant-downloads automatically).

For those of you who are waiting, I have opened up the members-only section of the Mastering Retouching forum. There, you'll find the hi-res images which correspond to the Lesson Levels in the series, so you can grab them and follow along. For those of you newer to Photoshop, I've also put up Tool Guides and Keyboard Shortcut links for both Mac and PC. There are also screencaps of the gorgeous Level interface (this thing is pretty!) and notes about the embedded HD player, which has some really cool features.

So while you're waiting for your download links, please feel free to check out the forum. Simply send me a PM with the e-mail you used to purchase, and I will send you the password. Those of you who have already received download links will find the forum password in your e-mail.

Also, just a reminder that pre-orders end tonight at midnight PST for those of you still interested. Thank you again everyone!

Re: Mastering Retouching DVD by Nick Saglimbeni.

I was lucky enough to get hold of it early this morning and I am very pleased with what I have seen so far. Presentation wise it's very impressive to say the least. All the HD videos are viewable through a html for the lesson with functionality to zoom or you can always just view the movie itself directly through your native player. Id advise to use the HTML (at least on the first view) as there are handy tips and summaries of what he talks about. I won't go into too much detail on this but on the slickforce forum there are some screenshots of the interface if you want to take a look.

In regards to the actual technique it's one that will take a bit of practice but when applied properly is very effective. There is some planning involved before actually executing the technique so it takes a bit of time to get used to working in that manner but after a few times it's fine. Although I am only a beginner/novice so I would imagine a more experienced retoucher would pick it up quicker.

I think everyone who had previous doubts will be pleasantly surprised. There is a lot of information that can be picked up in this DVD.

I will hopefully get through the remaining chapters tomorrow so feel free to field any questions.

Also if anyone wants more info from Nick himself now would be a good time to sign up over on the slickforce forum. With it due to be available for download in a few hours the site will naturally see more traffic from customers so there may be more info for you to help you decide if you haven't already purchased it.

Re: Mastering Retouching DVD by Nick Saglimbeni.

Everything is all very accessible once you set out for getting information. His forum is a wonderful way -- and the Matrix subforum has some great tips and previews! Don't be harsh on Nick. Look at it this way: nothing is ever really known in the pre-order stage of the game. Nick isn't trying to force you to buy Mastering Retouching so why being so harsh? He's done nothing wrong. In fact, there's no right and wrong in this.

Re: Mastering Retouching DVD by Nick Saglimbeni.

I don't feel anyone has attacked Nick. I find Nick very talented. It all comes to price/value. If I consider all the DVD's I've been exposed to in the past, Nick's is on the upper end of the curve regardless of the content or secrets provided and that's at the $300 price.

Re: Mastering Retouching DVD by Nick Saglimbeni.

Now that the final version of the series has been locked, I have updated the before-and-afters on the website, which many of you have requested, to provide even greater insight into what the Mastering Retouching will teach you.

Because the series is finally available to the public, I look forward to a lot more unbiased information being made available to you by way of our customers. I simply feel that giving my techniques away on here publicly would devalue their uniqueness in the hands of our now-customers.

Also, as some of you have requested, I have added greater explanations to the 6 Lesson Levels so that you can more accurately assess what you will learn in each stage of the series.

Thanks for your comments.

Hmm...that's not the case. Let me look into it. The price is still $299 until midnight. What country are you ordering from? It may be a conversion issue.

Re: Mastering Retouching DVD by Nick Saglimbeni.

By the way, I will state for the record that I was interested at $300 but just felt you did not give near enough info on what all you were covering (and no, I wasn't expecting you to divulge your secrets, take a look at Natalia's table of contents if you want to know what I was after).

I don't know of any training video that has came out at the price you now have listed. Couple with that the limited scope of "glamour" retouching and I don't see how this is going to sell. Again, $300... I am interested, especially when I start hearing favorable reviews, but $500 or $648???? To me, that's crazy even if were in a strong economy.

Re: Mastering Retouching DVD by Nick Saglimbeni.

I just checked again, and I promise it's only $299. We've had steady orders coming in all night.

Try refreshing your browser/emptying your cache and load the page again.

I will contact my processor and ask him if he's noticed any cart issues. If you still have problems, please private message me so we don't crowd this thread. Thanks.

Checked it by adding it to the cart. Does come up as $299 there but only after entering all your data. Still though, $648?

Dude, it's not $648. It never has been. It never will be. I'm not sure what else I can say to make that clear. I'll look into the error you experienced.

I am very aware of the economy, and based on feedback received in this thread a few weeks back, I lowered the price by $200 to it's current level.

Caesium, I don't know what's wrong with your computer but I've checked both my laptop and desktop and they still say $299.

I restarted and its now showing $299, however, I restarted about 8 hours ago and the page was up from then. Seems whatever issue there was is gone now.

Re: Mastering Retouching DVD by Nick Saglimbeni.

What I will tell you from seeing the special section in the forum with previews is that it looks gorgeous and very intriguing. The before pictures he uses are also perfect... I don't mean to sound like an endorser (I'll be getting Natalia's as well) but I just know Nick has worked really hard on everything and the results are showing very well. I don't claim to know anything other than it looks good to me

The interfaces are just amazing as well. It's all in HD and looks like a vibrant professional learning course illustrating the key points and everything. (Hope I'm not giving away too much!)
