Demistification of Katarzyna Widmanska

Here is a site of talented Polish photographer Katarzyna Widmanska:
http://widmanska.com
All her photos have a nice style, that looks like old movie/old polaroid.

Beside the fact, that make up artists and other coworkers of photographer did great job on almost all pictures, there is big portion of post-process, just to make the mood be even greater.

And here is a question - how to achieve this kind of look (only from post-process point of view)?

You really should choose ONE specific image to be dissected, as she has several styles in her gallery, some are heavily textured , some are not, some in color, some b/w, some goldcolored, some crossprocessed etc

Re: Demistification of Katarzyna Widmanska

The first one seems to be a mix of differentstyles. Skin is desaturated and looks lika inverted contrast exept for facial parts ( skin is very flat )Dress may be colored by hand or selectiveely treated by some odd Curves layer.

Second image, the light on upper left may be done in pp or when shot, dont know, but you can mimic it easily with a radial gradient on a layer set to screen for instance and colored to taste.
There seems to be a general texture for all the image, sort of like blurred noise. The skin also seems very soft, but can be the result o a general softening of the whole image. Try some Photofilter for the overall color tone.

Don't have a pic to show you on at this moment, but looking at 176 (your second link), there are a few things that stand out:

- Its dark, but there's no black. Instead all the shadows have a green/yellow tint in it.
- loads of noise
- slightly blurry
- Whole image is tinted yellow green.

Play with curves/selective color and this shouldn't be too hard to do.

Post a pic that you want in this style and I'll make a more detailed description.

Ok, daitri - what i can see on top is a noise layer, but effect is way to much. Probably smaller dots in noise and less of them would work better. Also less of opacity would do. But beside that, what was retouching steps?

Re: Demistification of Katarzyna Widmanska

from what I recall cross processed x2 using photokit color plug in
B/w layer- lighter-opacity adjust
add noise
curves
reduced clarity
