request: standard symbols to indicate retouching?

After watching last saturday's webinar with Carrie Beene I noticed she used a little sign to indicate that a client might want that element deleted, not toned down.
I then started to wonder if there are specific signs and symbols to be used when communicating with retouchers to make the corrections that need to be done clear and unmistakable.
I searched on this forum and googled, but probably I'm not using the right keywords and nothing pops out.

Anyone knows if such thing exists on the web and if it's international standard?

thankyou in advance (I hope I posted this in the right forum)

Re: request: standard symbols to indicate retouchi

Circles, arrows and words... That's all i have seen so far. Some of the shoots some people do in the studio are printed and sent to the client. The prints are returned to the studio with some markings, and those are usually circles, arrows, and words. You see a lot of arrows pointing a requested liquifying in a certain direction. Some other times there is a circle indicating the obvious (eg. bikini line), some others there's just a word like "redness"...

Retouching is very subjective as a whole. Still, by pointing out at a specific area of a photograph with a simple circle, it's easy to figure out why it was pointed out and required retouching without the need of a specific explanation.

Re: request: standard symbols to indicate retouchi

thankyou!
I knew the proofreading marks and that's basically why I thought there was some similar language for images as well.
the delete mark is probably the only one that still works...

I guess circle, arrows and words is clear enough without the need for something more standardized...

Re: request: standard symbols to indicate retouchi

it's not actually.
It takes a little getting used to, but the marginal marks make sure you don't skip any correction (it's very easy not to notice that a comma has been added when you have a 100 pages text, unless there's a mark somewhere that says "Hey look! There something to be done here!") and there's no confusion about the kind of correction you need to do.

That's why I thought it might have been the same with images.

For images I would use Photoshop Icons. It can be very easy to write and to understand.

Re: request: standard symbols to indicate retouchi

many clients request printed proof and I can't imagine them drawing little photoshop icons here and there (plus, most of them don't even care about how photoshop works: they know they want something taken away or made brighter, or adjusted, but I don't think it would be easier to communicate using icons...)
