Now, the best thing you can do is, if you are lucky to have the raw file, make a brighter conversion just for the hair. Layer it, mask out the non hair areas, and blend in accordingly.

What do you mean exactly by contour? Do you mean creating more dimension in areas by adding contrast in the tones? If so, can you give me some examples.
