Re: Gry Garness Review?

I purchased the CS3 Digital Retouching for Fashion, Beauty, and Portrait Photography (191 pgs in pdf format). It covers a broad spectrum with techniques for the varoius types of retouching and all the things you need to do like applying maake-up / digiatal powder, fixing blotchy skin, reduction of pores, shaping eyebrows, on a very long list. I don't think you can go wrong at those prices - I believe are in the $30-40 range. Theres a lot of useful info and you would probably pay twice as much if the media were a paper book.
By the way, Gry is a woman not a man.
Regards, Murray

Thank you. After re-reading it I found a bunch of typing and grammar errors so I fixed them this morning. Please let us know what you think of the CS4 version.
Thanks & regard, Murray

I have all of Gry's books and they are all worth having. I hope Doug gets her back on a webinar and a surprise would be nice.

i agree - Gry is a great retoucher and do have a lot of simple and advanced techniques - much different from - say Amy Dresser i think. I too hope to see her on a webinar.

Re: Gry Garness Review?

I have the DVD, awesome content, high quality production. Some of the material is too advanced geared towards high end retouchers but there is enough content for beginners and intermediate retouchers.

Re: Gry Garness Review?

If I were to purchase the DVD is there any point in getting the CS5 ebook? Is there a lot of overlap or does the ebook go into more detail since she has more time to expand on points than she might have in the video? Also is it worth getting either of the Color management/color optimization CS3 books? (i work in CS5 presently) or is this once again overlap?
thanks

Re: Gry Garness Review?

The DVD set is definitely top quality, she knows photoshop in and out. I agree that this set is geared towards users with an intermediate level of photoshop. There's not much handholding and some of the explanations go over my head.

The one thing I didn't like was; the retouches that were done were all done on different images. So I never got the impression that we were actually doing a retouch. My preference is to see a start to finish retouch on a single image.

I prefer DVD's to books because I always take notes and re-learn what I just watched in a way that is best for me.
