And possibly a silly question, but are you making the red channel layer a certain blend mode?
Everything Im trying just keeps the skin grey or an even harsher tone...

Actually he shoots pro400h, it gets this look when you rate it at 100 and expose for the shadows. So yeah about +2 to + 2.5 stops

I have VSCO, its pretty fun but as a film shooter, it kind of misses the mark. I've been trying forever to come up with some method to get my digi work to at least be consistent with my film work, but its proven to be quite a challenge. VSCO is an interesting step forward but i find that it leaves to many wierd cast and odd hues to really match a clean well processed and scanned roll of portra 400 or pro400h film.
