What retouching is used?

I was looking at Travel Photographer Bob Krist's portfolio, and amazed by his collection titled Tuscany on page 2 of his portfolio ( http://www.bobkrist.com/port_images.php ).

Could anyone educate me on what his retouching methods used?

Thank you very much.

Michael

....that's a pretty broad question to be asking. He is a professional so the list of techniques would be pretty long. Perhaps single out a specific picture or two and maybe you'll get a little more insight.

Probably film grain and messing with the colors. The pictures are so consistent though I'm guessing it's a plugin.

Re: What retouching is used?

Hi MSHI,
Bob Krist does the majority of his work for National Geographic, which does not allow 'retouching', just adjustment of tonal contrast and color. Using filters, such as gradient filters to darken the sky are allowed. He's been doing this for quite some time and I would assume that he's adopted methods and techniques from the days of transparency film, (getting it in the camera) to get the effect he wants. In general, there is very little, if any, retouching in travel photography, which is why the great people like Bob stand out.

Re: What retouching is used?

thanks everyone for your reply.

I tried to retouch one of my image using his style. And this is what I ended up with. Please take a moment and give me some suggestions. Thank you all.
