How to get "Silver" Effect

I have seen some very cool work that I have to guess is done w/ post processing and I am interested to learn how to do this.

Here is a link to examples of images that represent the look I would like to learn how to achieve:

http://www.davehillphoto.com/

I am sure this is not a simple one click solution, but would like to find out what and how to achieve.

Thanks,

doug

Your question is probably the most frequent topic on forums like this one. Try searching the forum.

Re: How to get "Silver" Effect

Here is another example of what I desire to learn:

I have been searching.... found some other people's posts looking to do the same thing, but not found the holy grail yet. Any keywords you can pass along so I can search for the correct thing?

thanks,

doug

That's dodge and burn, local contrast, pseudoHDR, sharpening, lucis.... all those over used techniques that everybody seems to be doing now and people think they are the s***.

Re: How to get "Silver" Effect

I cannot speak of what is overused or not, I am new to photography and new to Photoshop and post processing. I do find the style very attractive however and would like to learn it.

If any members here have their own method and a portrait they have done and would not mind sharing it, I would be very grateful.

Cheers,

Doug

Re: How to get "Silver" Effect

I really do not understand that "style".
It's naive and childish anyhow.

Especially I do not like those strange perspective distortions.
And the composition is mostly lousy as hell. It actually hurts my eyes.

Without these "retouchings" his pictures probably would land in the trash.

I just visited your site, beautiful work. I very much like how you show the finished and the original image. It provides a full sense of the process.
