Color Grads

Hi,
A guy I work with mentioned doing something with color grads and seems impressed with himself. I was too busy to ask him what he was talking about. This is concerning beauty retouching.

Just wondering what they are as I have never worked with "color grads"? How and why would I use them?

Cheers for your help.

Re: Color Grads

Gradient maps, possibly? They can be effective at lower opacities to even out tones. Never heard that term for them, though. Truth is, if he's using gradient maps well, he probably should be impressed with himself.
