Is this a PS plugin? Color Hazing

I see this effect more and more and perhaps it is already out of fashion. In many instances I believe it is used as an artistic band aid for an otherwise boring photo (of course not in Rankin's case). Still though I would like to know how it is achieved.

I would think that layering color sprays in photoshop could do it but is there a plugin?

It's just a gradient with a lot of colors with the layer set to color or hue and the opacity lowered.

Selective color is your friend.

Thats a great read but no that didn't help at all, Unfortunately the rembrandt lighting style has nothing to do with the effect I'm looking for: "Color hazing" (see above examples)

Why would you need a plug-in for that? Basic understanding of layer blending modes is all you need. Just create a new layer, add color in whatever way you want, and play with blends.

I guess you missed the IBARRA style of color hazing...

1) general tone, CB, cropping in lightroom
2) general clean-up, light smoothing in CS3
3) add colour layer, 00122c blend=exclusion
4) add colour layer, f4f4d3 blend=pin mode, opacity=15%
5) add texture, blend=overlay
6) back into lightroom, general sharpening\

Read on, didn't mean the Rembrant lighting link...towards the end of the thread.

Ahh you are right!! I did miss that part of the post. This is an interesting technique indeed.

There are more than just 6 steps that happen
