Re: How to get this skin tone

cschirra, Welcome to RetouchPRO Hope you enjoy your stay here and make lots of friends. Poke around, ask questions, offer help, have fun!

I have no clue how the Pros do it (I imagine they have specific fine tuned colors) but this is my try..

ADDED a try using a copy of the Blue channel

Brought out details by using a method as described here (Slight halo on shoulders was masked away)

~~Color Layer~ OR ~Blue Channel~

Re: How to get this skin tone

Yep, I deliberately tinted it to give it a colder look. Here isa a version not color shifted. How much brown you leave in is a function of how much you want to desaturate the image.
Is this the direction you want the image to go?

Re: How to get this skin tone

Hi CS!
here's my crack at it- I had to even out some of the lighting to emulate the samples-mostly Shadow/highlight.

Re: How to get this skin tone

I did differential desaturation by doing it with a luminosity mask.
I also added some hue 20, but this time on a reverse luminosity mask.

Re: How to get this skin tone

Drop a Hue/Sat layer on "OVerlay", -100 Desaturation at about 40%, some light sharpening, then add a Selective color and add some Cyan to the Reds. Then Curves for the color should do the trick. I don't have time to do it right now, but that should do it for you.

Re: How to get this skin tone

did some luminosity and reverse luminosity masks
then high pass layer set to vivid light
another high pass layer set to color, 40% opacity

Re: How to get this skin tone

Hi CS-
Stumbled across your thread, and was intrigued, and gave it a go myself. Took about two hours, didn't go to town on it totally, was really more interested in achieving the overall look.

Also, Its not 100%, simply bc the lighting is different in your photo.
I did a little bit of everything, from frequency separation (for skin rt), painting with light with soft light layer, painting with curves on luminosity, selective color, and plain old curves on luminosity.

Its not perfect, but I still think it looks cool. If you want me to break it down more for you, shoot me a PM.

Enjoy, Best of Luck.
Amanda
