The Boondocks

Had a great shoot this weekend for an editorial piece but as anyone knows me, I like to mix it up with some candids, well, sort of a posed candid I guess. Mikel takes a break from hairstyling for a quick shot. I told him to look tough, he didn't have to try hard. LOL.

Re: The Boondocks

I love looking at it, but the editorial aspect isn't clear. Is he a mobster that owns that boat? A captain retiring for the day? More visual clues to the story would be nice, but the retouching rocks. The vignette might be a little too heavy in areas where there's no detail left, and the red object in the lower right of the frame is distracting me. Besides that, great work.

Re: The Boondocks

I like your work. He's someone I wouldn't want to run into...anywhere.
Now, look at that B-I-G boat and then the teeny, tiny prop. I think the motor on our pontoon is larger than that.

Interesting thing, I looked at your post originally because of it's title. Around here, the boondocks is anywhere there's nothing... people, stores, civilization and the people who are there are rednecks & hillbillies. Usually. Gosh darn it, I hope that didn't sound politically incorrect. But, you've developed a great technique there.

Re: The Boondocks

Thanks for the comments. I didn't use the Draganize effect, as a matter of fact, I don't even know what that is but I suspect it's probably something that gets you close to the Dave Hill look. I use a combination of Lightroom, Nik Color Effects Pro and some D&B to get this look.

The shoot was with models, this was just a candid shot of Mikel so I wasn't trying to make any sense of it. LOL.

Nice shot...
I have been to a lot of water fronts and that is a typical late in the evening shot.. the rough guys are out and about-- time for me to be gone... Appears to be an aircraft carrier - Where was that taken..?

Which filter did you use in the Nik Color Effects?
