how is the visible lights done??

I realy love the visible light in this picture, and alot of other Dave Hill pictures but I don´t know how to create it...
does anybody here has an idea of how this is done??

I´m sorry for the bad quality, but files can´t be bigger than 100K you can see the picture in Dave Hills portfolio under Music.

thanks!!

Re: how is the visible lights done??

Place a studio light out of the windows with a diffuser or a panel so it will give strong light but soft throw the windows on the face and even background, or use another light [with snoot] for background], just look at where the lights are coming on the shot and place the light as it shown on the frame, fill light to give some details on shadows parts.

In fact i feel the light part is not the difficult part, but how to process the shot after it's taken,

Re: how is the visible lights done??

Dave Hill uses anywhere between a 4 and 7 light set-up on his shoots. If you go to his site, you can click on the "behind the scenes" sections. If you do this, you will see his formula pretty quick (he uses the 4 light system as his base). The processing is another matter. I have been working on it for 6 months, and it has over 50 steps (not counting sub-steps) right now. That's all I know.

Hmmhh.. Visible light.. If you mean those visible "light beams" in the air. Try adding little haze with smoke machine when taking a picture.

Here is a sample I made with my software. It does however depend on the lighting that is present on the original shot

Re: how is the visible lights done??

I´ve been away for a few days, but now I´m back...
I should look att the toturials you have posted...
about the lightning, I have looked through the behind scenes and as slash-5 says, nothing special about the lightning, of cours it´s the lightning that gives part of the look, but it´s in the post the visible light is turned on...
to get visible light at the shot you have to have something that reflects the light... smoke or dust or something else... as long as I know...
thanks...
