Re: How to retouch like this?

Those pictures are without retouching, maybe this is the reason. The key is the light setup and some adjustmens in raw software.

Re: How to retouch like this?

Nah, these are definetly retouched. Use Dodge & Burn to create highlights and shadows

Re: How to retouch like this?

I agree with both CKJeep, the lighting/photography pulls this off although I would say some additional dodging and burning was applied. But mostly it has to do with good lighting.

Ok...

1- That wasn't retouched by a photographer, it was a professional retoucher.

2- while lighting plays a big role as in EVERY COMMERCIAL or PUBLISHED image this has several hours of retouching on top of it.

3- Asking "how to retouch like this" is a little vague. As the saying goes is not the answer that matters but the questions.

some words on retouching that I wrote a couple of months ago http://www.facebook.com/note.php?not...23703497671163

Re: How to retouch like this?

hmmm... the difference in those images than the more commonly seen retouches is the added noise for the skin and the "soft glow" of the whole image

this skin result is similar to one of Gry Garness shows in one of her books
check image #30 here:
http://www.grygarness.com/photoshop/...ty-fashion.htm
this topic should be covered in one of her/his books, but actually I think there is an exert of the book in internet which shows exactly what you look for (from the book about Fashion retouching).

there is some soft glow, maybe it is similar to this:

Re: How to retouch like this?

I think I can recognize using luminosity masks, D/B, high contrast in this case is not reached with one or two simple layer as in Gry Garness` case (absence of depth and dark shadows details compared to first post), reaching the depth might be a bit of HDR emulation with BW adjustment mask in luminosity mode as well, overall I would be hard for me to say it in few senteces, like Natalia said before...
