color retouching

hello,

I have shot a picture of a model on whom, a makeup artist applied the makeup on the face but did not apply any makeup or the arms or neck. Is there a technique to retouch the photo so to have the skin color on the body match the skin color on the face.

Re: color retouching

yes it is more ore less "normal" Colorcorrection.
You can do it by Eye balling or Numbers use Curve Adjustment Layers and Masks with soft edges that the adjustment blend very soft..

A good Method is to choose a typical Skincolor on a solid Color Adjutmentlayer put this Layer from normal to Color and adjust the Opacity to 20-30 % and mask out..
lg.

Re: color retouching

do you have a picture or example? if its what im thinking it would be pretty much like gene_spark said. Basically paint the skin the color you want. Then try different blend modes ,curves, and also opacity on the color layer. If you had an example to post you might get more answers tho. I say that mostly because people from here load it up in their photoshops and get the result you want and then post how they did it. But depending on the pic your results and methods could vary. Everyone here is very helpful but most want to see a pic to get the idea of what your going for.

Re: color retouching

If this is what you asked, here are the steps:
  • Select the pale skin
  • With the selection active, create a Levels Adjustment Layer to fix the skin.
My result Attachment 1

my workflow Attachment 2

tweaked values in the Levels Adjustment Layer Attachment 3

Hope this helps

Welcome to RetouchPRO Hope you enjoy your stay here and make lots of friends. Poke around, ask questions, have fun!

It would probably help some to know your level of expertise and what software and version you are using ... some have color matching while in others you have to select your color replacements or possibly use a tone map layer.. or just a paint layer

Here at RetouchPRO there is an excellent Tutorial section where there are step by step instructions on skin tones and color.....

Searching in the help files of your image editing software offers an abundance of step by step how to's... there are also some good tips there...

These resources plus practice cubed will often bring everything together so that it seems second nature

If you are using Photoshop.. no matter which version... there is always a multitude of ways to do the same task.. in the end it all boils down to whatever you are comfortable with within your knowledge base and your artistic abilities (which cannot be taught,, step by step)

Talking Re: color retouching

thanks everyone for the infos
i am using Photoshop CS3.

I consider myself an intermediate level user. i mainly retouch the photos that i shoot as i am a freelance photographer.

i did an attempt to change the body skin tone using an alternate way (through paint layer) and doctored the skin using the degrunge technique posted by ryno, i believe (the person who is post producing Victoria Secrets shots) with some satisfactory result, i think . will post the result tonight.
will try as well to follow the tutorial for the wet skin so i can see the results.
