Focal Blade 2

I've been using Harald Heim's FocalBlade plug-in for years and just updated to version 2 and am frankly overwhelmed by the choices offered.

Previous versions had enough choices for me to be satisfied with my results, but I always wonder if I'm using a plug-in to its best advantage.

With version 2, I'm wondering even harder.

Is anyone using FocalBlade 2 and would you care to share your experiences with it?

Re: Focal Blade 2

Isabel, all of the reviews of FocalBlade 2 seem to be very positive. Judging from the lack of response it appears not very many RP members are using it. You might also try the user forum at the software creator's site - Pluginsite.com

Re: Focal Blade 2

I use and like it, maybe it is the best for high quality images(non blurred),
there is nothing much to say other than read guides and play with the sliders to get the best result, you have to learn by your self.

Pictus, I pretty much came to that conclusion myself.

Re: Focal Blade 2

Here are some FocalBlade screenshots and examples I did awhile back.

True, it isn't the kind of plug-in where you just click a preset button from a list of choices and get quick results, and I've read a review (in Rangefinder mag, I believe) where the reviewer admitted not knowing quite what to do. I felt the same way.

The bottom line is you do your best and experiment! It is quite a capable plug-in though (for both sharpening and blurring), once you get it under control.

Re: Focal Blade 2

Thank you for your feedback. I'm working with it pretty much in Classic Mode. I like its soft focus option too.
