Re: Calvin does Jill

Hi
I am not sure if i shpuld be happy or worry about the thread "Calvin does Jill".
Is it Jill when i use two striplights and a spot in the background? Hmmm....
Of course my inspiration come from a Jill Greenberg picture, but i dont take pictures of crying babys and i use a other technique to create a picture like that.
My spot in the background is also cleaner or rounder the Jills.
Anyway... if you have any questions let me know.
Its easy to do a picture like that.

Re: Calvin does Jill

Just my sense of humor indicating that your wonderful pics are lit with the style I come to know as Jill Greenbergs popular series of head shots. Basically its what comes to mind when I see images in that style. I guess we always associate looks and styles with the ones we seen the most of in popular culture. A pure complement nothing more nothing less.

My biggest questions is how do you get the shiny skin tones have such pop and character to me love to under stand how it was achieved...

Hi
Heres the out of cam file
http://drp.ly/1x1zg6

I dont retouch so much. Of course a little bit dodge and burn but most of the retouching is adding the color on the background and adding the spot.

That takes 5 min. :-)

Calvin what method are you using to D&B? Curves? Tools? 50% grey fill set to blend mode X?

Thanks

Re: Calvin does Jill

You can use what you like cause it make no diffrence.
I use a grey layer in softlight/overlay where i use the dodge and the burn tool

Re: Calvin does Jill

Hello, those are very good Greenberg style photos, take it as a compliment many photographers still try to do Greenberg like photos and you made them very good!
Thanks for the video, very nice.

Hey Calvin,

i think its been mentioned earlier in this thread but do you intend to produce a video tutorial on how you post processed the 'photographer' images?

I'm sure a lot of people on this forum would love to learn?

Re: Calvin does Jill

Sorry but i havent done something special with the skin tone.
Hue / Saturation Layer or selective Color and maybe more cyan or a little desaturation.
I have no special tutorial for you, sorry

Hi Calvin, can your prepare a tutorial? I paid for your last video2brain tutorial and would certainly be prepared to pay for a tutorial on the look you acheived with this shot.

Unless it is too secret a techique?!
