Skin retouch by a beginner

This is a skin retouch I did recently.
Please let me know what you think.

Can be viewed at different sizes here:

Re: Skin retouch by a beginner

Overall, I like your work. It's a light touch, which I think is good. She's a pretty model with great skin, so a light touch is all that is required.

Some minor comments:
  • the crease on her right side of her mouth seems a bit strong given the relative perfection elsewhere
  • similarly the two skin creases between her eyebrows could be decreased a bit more but shouldn't be eliminated
  • you might wish to try to lighten the darken patch of skin or skin fold between her nose and right cheek
  • appears to be a slight bump 3/4 up the bridge of her nose along the highlight

These are my novice observations. In the big scheme of things, they're minor. I like that the retouching was subtle and that she looks real.

Cool.

I took some of your suggestions and posted up a newer version. Same link in my original post message.

for the beginner - it's good job.
You left few white spots after healing.
I would do D&B in some parts. (to even skin). Maybe light selective color adjustment in reds

Hi Klam,

Nice and light retouch...

My main comment is that you have an overall color cast over the image... a slight WB balance issue. I'd get a curve adj. and remove a bit of yellow and quiet a bit more red out of it... I'm sure you'll find it will make the whole image pop a little more.

Apart from that, the skin blotching on the arms and some of the neck lines could maybe use some reducing. The eyes could be a touch brighter which would really bring the face out I think and if you where going to go a bit further then a slight enlargement to the right eye would also be something I might do.

Nicely done anyhow

I think you did very nicely. Good skin glistening and detail...not over smoothed...good color...nice before and after.

Keep up the attractive work!

Thanks for the suggestions and comments.

I look forward in hearing your likes and dislikes again for future images. Maybe one day I'll be able to do a retouch including hair also *yikes*
