Which color profile to use?

I did a retouch example (test) and it was saved at TIF file, Profoto RGB profile, 16bits.

However when I selected Assign Profile in PS to my calibrated spyder pro 3 or sRGB, the color look awnful.

Usually I was always using sRGB (for two copies one for Web and other for print). However this time when I switched to My Spyder Pro 3 calibarated profile in PS, I noticed the color suddenty changed (skin tone turned really pale) in my Print preview screen. Now with that Profoto RGB profile is there a method in PS if I want to print this file??

I would like to have two copies one publish on Web and other for print.
As far as I know, sRGB loose a lot of color

Qpixo, if you are trying to convert from one color profile to another you should NOT be using the Assign coomand. For conversion, you should use Edit>Convert to Profile.
The Assign command is used to inform PS what color profile an image is currnetly in, so that PS can display it properly. The command is used primarily when you ask PS to open an image that has not been tagged with a color profile so photoshop will automatically assume the image's profile is the same as PS current color workspace.
If you have an image edited an image in Prophoto and you now use the assign command to tell PS that the image is in Adobe RGB or sRGB or almost any other color space, PS will display the image in that space and it will look pretty ugly.

Assign profile doesn’t alter the RGB values, it only updates their definition (their scale). The number are in ProPhoto RGB as they should be. Updating the definition using Assign makes those number look awful because they are incorrectly being displayed because you lied to Photoshop. Assign profile is useful for untagged data, images without a profile. Photoshop has to guess what the scale is (it guesses based on the RGB working space you set in color Prefs). You have to Assign a profile so the numbers ARE properly defined and look correct. That’s the only time you’d use Assign profile.

IF you have Adobe RGB and want sRGB numbers, you use Convert to Profile and save out a new iteration. That changes the numbers and that’s why they now look correct.

Understood different now. I can see color look correct when I selected convert to Profile then choose sRGB profile for Web.

But my concern is Print purpose. Should I choose CMYK in advanced option if offer CMYK (Working CMYK - US Web Coated SWOP v2)??

I'm using ProPhoto RGB as default not Abode RGB.

ONLY if the output device confirms to SWOP v2. What’s the output device?

You would use the paper profile the driver installs based on the paper you are printing to.

No, the Epson is an RGB output device. You send it RGB.

You send whatever RGB working space you have to the print driver, Photoshop and the driver do the conversions. You need to read up on how to color manage the data from working space to print space. http://www.ppmag.com/reviews/200506_rodneycm.pdf

I think Adobe RGB is enough

I use RGB: eciRGB v2 & CMYK: Euroscale Coated v2
but I live in Europe

ProPhoto is fine, now you need to select the paper profile for whatever you are popping into that R1900. If you are using Epson papers, they should be installed on your system from the install of the driver.

Yes I always and only use Epson glossy paper 11x14 or 13x19 to print.

What I don't understand is how to calibrate? I own a Spyder Pro 3 calibration.
Do I have to convert to choose the profile as My Spyder Pro 3? or I can keep ProPhoto RGB as default?

I don’t know what you are doing with that Spyder 3. If you calibrate and profile the display, you’re done with it, it only serves the purpose of producing correct on-screen previews. If you use the product to build paper profiles (if it can do that), then you’d convert from ProPhoto to the paper profile in the Print dialog. How well that product builds paper profiles would be the next question.
