How to make similar amazing effect like this

Here are some pics for that effect with highly saturated and contracst feeling, but not exaggerated. These pics are obviously pretty similar in the retouching method, maybe the same action , preset and etc.
I have tried a lot times but cann't find the way.
Guys you have any idea or you have the similar action/presets?Thanks.
Of course,if the retouchpro.com can work similarily like these,it will be highly appreciated.

Re: How to make similar amazing effect like this

Ni hao Yoku: It is not difficult to get this kind of effect, but on the other hand, i think the first 7 pictures are over saturated maybe too much contrast, considering the darkest colors (Chinese main colors) black and red (blue aswell), and the light colors look too white. While on the last 3, they look kinda blury, but also with strong contrast, maybe in both cases that could be intended. This is a personal opinion, so take it with a grain of salt.

(note: the photos look like they were taken with an old fuji film)

Not difficult to do, perhaps boosting colors, and/or applying a hard contrast curve.

Ha,ni hao Boneappetit. You are likely used to be here in China, right?
Thanks for your opinion. As I know ,these pics are shot by Nikon D3.Maybe some detail of the pics is not perfect but I still think the general deffects are amazing, hehe.

I am looking for some tool that is able to make it in this similar way and also wonder whether Retouchpro.com can do this.Do you know sth about that?

Thanks .

Hehe... I just wish to be in China right now. Wo ai Zhonguo. I'm just xue xi hanyu, but, hen duo hua hai ting bu dong. Yes, I'm sure any one of the pros here in RP, can achieve this in no time.

If you have Photoshop you don't need a "special action" to get this effect. There are various ways to do this in Photoshop. I'm not a master at this yet, but here is a link to a video tutorial about working in Lab Color, which is very simple and yet very practical. I'm not sure if you can access youtube from China, but here is the link anyway.

Ni hao Yoku: xie xie ni de hao yi.

Yes, I just thought they re-opened youtube, now I see it still banned for China, sorry about that. I've never done this before but I'm going to try a sequence of screen shots on how to boost colors using Lab Color, so you can see it. 'Be back later with it.

Thanx again for your invitation, I appreciate it. bao zhong !!!

Re: How to make similar amazing effect like this

Ok, here is my try, hope it helps.

1- Open your image, here I used one of the beautiful actress Michelle Yeoh.

2- Go to: Image / Mode / Lab Color - Then, Image / Adjustments / Curves

3- Choose channel "a" from the drop down menu, which contains Red and Green (adjust both ends as you like)

4- Do the same with channel "b" Yellow and Cyan (adjust both ends), when youre done click OK.

5- Go back to: Image / Mode / and change it back to RGB

6- Then, go to: Filter / Sharpen / Unsharp Mask (see the settings on the picture below) This is not a magic formula, but it works fine with most pictures. You can play around with the settings until you get what you want. If the picture looks too sharp you can use Threshold to add a bit of blur, you can also lower the Amount setting.

Photoshop is a never ending learning program, if you want to go further, add adjustment layers, like Hue/Saturation, Vibrance, Curves or whatever you like to add, after all you work with your own pictures and Ps.

There's a second part on this process, in order to fix Black and White colors, I'll try it later.

For now, have fun !

Re: How to make similar amazing effect like this

Hello again Yoku: This process is used to set Black and White points on your portraits. You can use this, either after applying the Lab Color process, or individually. It gives you a nice balance on your photos. Here it goes:

1- Open your image, and click the round black and white icon at the lower layers palette, and then click Threshold. Pick your color sampler tool at the tools menu.

2- To set your white point pull the slider hard right, and then back to the left just a little bit until you start to see the first white spot of your image, click on the spot with the color dropper tool. (white point set)

3- To set your black point pull the slider hard left, and then back to the right just a little bit until you start to see the first black spot of your image, click on the spot with the color dropper tool. (black point set)

4- Once you have your 2 points set, drag and drop your Threshold layer to trash, you are going to see your normal image again, and also the 2 points.

5- Click the round black and white icon again and go to Curves. You are going to see 3 eye drop tools at the left side of the window. Click on the first one which is your black dropper. Click your "black point" with it right in the middle. You are going to see a change on your image.

6- Click the lower (third) dropper, which is the white dropper, click your "white point" with it right in the middle, and you are done.

The pictures below are in chronological order, i guess it is easier to follow this process looking at the pictures.

Have fun !!!
