Re: How is these images done .. I was looking at his portfolio and wondering the same thing today. It almost look like there's some HDR or shadow/highlight going on in his backgrounds because they all seem a little muted with a very low black level. I think most of the backgrounds are also a little underexposed. I tend to doubt it's HDR but am not really certain. I love the look of it in the photo on the left here: http://www.crismanphoto.com/#/Portfolio/Portfolio/27

Re: How is these images done .. This effect has three things going for it: 1- using flash/strobe to emphasis the subject 2- separation between the subject and the BG utilizing light -above- and through heavy PP 3- That "clean" look that eludes me, I just simply gave up on how to achieve it

Re: How is these images done .. 1. Good lighting, for portrait at least 3 strobes. For some pics the background and subject is treated seperately. There is no HDR there, just lots of work put into it. Lots of dodging/burning and adjustment layers. If you have a well lit picture you want to have in this style (note that it is not just one style) you can send it to me and i will have a go at it. you can ask my email in private message if you want it.
