Re: How to remove annoying magenta cast

Adjust the black and white points using a threshold adjustment layer. Then find the grey point using a 50% grey set to difference blend mode.

Try to use colorbalance adjustment layer. And adjust the midtones.

Re: How to remove annoying magenta cast

Many ways to do it. Add a Selective Color Adj layer. In the Red Channel, reduce the Magenta slider. Invert the mask to make it black and paint with a white brush over the skin or anywhere else you wish the change to take effect.
A more versatile way would be to use the Hue/Sat adj layer (sample attached). Choose the magenta channel and make a targeted adjustment to only remove the Magenta from the right side of her face. Then go to the Master channel and shift the overall hue and tweak the saturation and hue sliders. Invert the mask and paint with white on face and neck.
Regards, Murray

Re: How to remove annoying magenta cast

Where did the images come from in the first place and why the cast? Is this a poor scan with the cast (to either match the original or due to poor scanning)? Or its the raw conversion (again, using a cast that shouldn’t be there in the first place). Techniques for removing the cast ARE useful. But its also useful to figure out where the cast came from in the first place and avoid it at capture (or scanning).

Re: How to remove annoying magenta cast

Your overall color balance is off. Assuming the background is white or light gray, make a curves adj layer and use the gray balance eyedropper on the background, or the sweater if you prefer. That will handle the brunt of the problem.

The only cast remaining will be a touch of reflection on the face from the red scarf, which can be addressed with the color tool of your choice used selectively through a mask. But really, once you get your overall color balance right it's minimal.
