... or to duplicate the sharpen result you can:

1) Duplicate layer, convert to smart object
2) HP: r1.2
3) USM: r0.5, 150%
4) blend If This Layer: 0\0, 127/190
5) Fill 60%

... for free...

Re: New Topaz plug-in! Sharpening and blur correct

There's probably no need to reply but since I'm at 666 posts I probably should, just to change the number-!

True, there's a lot one can do to sharpen photos manually, but show of hands – how many of you already knew this particular procedure? And of those who did, how many actually do it regularly?

Perhaps not many, since there are 26 third-party products listed on my site with which you can perform sharpening operations (some dedicated to the task, others which offer it as an aside).

And the degree and type of sharpening needed will vary based on the resolution of the original, degree of original softness, subject matter and many other such factors, so the formula above will most likely not work in every case (I tried following your recipe and got gray moldy-looking results-??).

So if you choose this path you're left with experimenting with each of the variables, by which time you've wasted more time-is-money than a plug-in costs... I call this "the price of free".

Re: New Topaz plug-in! Sharpening and blur correct

of course it depends on the image, just like yours has sliders for the same reason
the only little thing you may auto adjust would be some consideration of values to image size...

when I get a few days free I'll make you a better sharpening algorithm, with all the sliders bells and whistles, as a dynamic panel, so it will save even more time than the commercial one...

frankly... those look like Micky-mouse plugins with basic algorithms...
you know... the kind that can be cramped all in one Smart Object
(just as SkinSmooth does it http://www.facebook.com/PhotonicTools )

if you want to write something serious let me know, I'm looking for someone to do the coding, selling... etc

I'm not the developer; I just provide info about various software solutions as a convenience to those who are interested ;-). But yes, let's see more of what you're talking about, that would be cool.

gotcha... check the videos on the youtube channel (from PhotonicTools)
like SkinNR
(edit: here's the prototype of SkinNR http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MLrxxQgOZk )

if you find a developer who's interested I'm sure you can get a deal with them for finding the business option
