D&B with solar curvers

Hi

I read that solar curvers are very useful for D&B method and for clone stap tool work.

I know how to create a solar curve , but I don't now how to clean skin

I've got a pictrue:

http://picasaweb.google.com/jarek.m0...56415766572322 - normal

http://picasaweb.google.com/jarek.m0...56410138292066 - solar

What I should clean ?

On the yellow area I should remove orange spots ?

Re: D&B with solar curvers

I don't think solar curves are very useful for skin retouching, maybe for an initial look at the image and a clean up of larger spots, but better to do it visually. I use a solar curve mostly to check areas that lack texture or a lot of detail, like walls in an interior shot or skies, this is where a solar curve will then show up any sensor dust or oil spots to be removed.

Re: D&B with solar curvers

Solar curves can indeed come in handy while cloning, but I would just use them temporarily.
Enable them, see where there's harsh transitions/flaws, disable them and correct the areas.

But for most things I find them quite overkill, so I just use them for a final check most of the time.

Ditto to what Shaun and Jonas have written. Solor curve have limited usefulness. A contrast curve above a desaturated adjustment layer is one of the most effective ways to visualize what needs to be dodged or burned.

Re: D&B with solar curvers

Why solar curves?
Create a folder with Hue/Sat with Saturation set to 0. And one curves layer above Hue/Sat with some dramatic contrast. This will give you a clean picture of what needs to be dodge/burned. Don't forget to turn the folder off sometimes to check if you didn't go extreme with D&B.

Re: D&B with solar curvers

I sometimes use them for skin as well, but then a very mild version, just because it highlights the difference between light/dark really really well. Sometimes.

Other times it just look like a mess.
