New: How to get this Hannah Mhymych texture

http://www.msethjones.com/projects/b...annah-khymych/

that link will take you to what i'm looking for. I feel it is very much the opposite of what most people look for on here, texture. These images are devoid of texture and have a completely smooth skin surface. I was wondering what you guys would figure is the best way to achieve something like this. It obviously isn't Gaussian blur, hahaha, lets try to think a little. I havnt tried anything yet by i'll get to it!

Of course it's blur. Maybe you should think a little.

Probably not Gaussian Blur, but you might want to take a look at "Filter"-"Blur"-"Surface Blur" to blur just the surfaces (you can use the threshold to prevent blurring edges).
You might also want to try selective use of the smudge tool or CS5's new mixer brush :-).

Re: New: How to get this Hannah Mhymych texture

Well, i mean, i dont think it's that simple?
I am guessing:
~surface blur
~plus some smudge tool
~D&B
~get some texture from the original skin and apply it very subtly to the shadow transitions in the skin??

has anyone actually tried doing it?
and i doubt a photographer of this caliber would be using a plug-in with so many (better) retouchers on hand~

Well, it's probably not just a big radius of Gaussian Blur applied to the overall skin, but more of a selective/directional blur. Look at the transitions from lights to darks, that'll give you an impression of the level of detail that the retoucher got into.
That's also why I suggested the mixer brush and the smudge tool as they'll allow you to get rid of detail and form the transitions at the same time.

Maybe there's also a slight dose of high pass applied to get back some of the original skin texture, but not much.

Looks like blur to me. Actually I don't think it looks good at all. The face is OK if that is what you are after but the arms look cut out and the whole image looks terribly fake.

Interestingly the outline of the nose is relatively well preserved which makes me wonder if, rather than Gaussian blur the retoucher used Noise>median
