CMYK skin tone problems/help

Thank you for the info guys, I'm gunna try measuring the LAB values as opposed to the CMYK values and see if that works out a little better

I just wanna make sure though a is the magenta/green and b is the blue/yellow should I be leaving the red and cyan alone and not adjusting it at all or?

Also If I wanted to get a paler sort of look like in the examples I should keep like lab readout values lower because that will make them less saturated?
