Airbrush retouching

There is a retouching seminar in my town and one of the (advanced techniques) topics is called "airbrush". What does it mean in relation to the retouching? (Its mentioned even in their seminar for mattepainting.)

Re: Airbrush retouching

If air brushingis one of the advanced techniques, I'd like to know what else they are teaching and what they plan to charge you. Look up airbrushing on google and youtube. You get an assortment of definitions. Here is one randomly chosen from many Most are blurring skin via gaussian blur or surface blur then painting a mask to show this effect. So if you end up going, pls share with us what technique they are selling you as advanced. It really depends on what you want to do, what you want to learn, and who is your customer. Definitely not an advanced technique for high end photos if this is what they are calling advanced.

I saw few videos like this, but I really dont get it why they call it "airbrush" technique (the "airbrush" button is not even activated on that video)

Re: Airbrush retouching

Here is another video that I found by a photographer named Zach Andrews. The video is a tutorial for the process on the whole image but he talks about air brushing at around 1:40. He doesn't really get into detail about he tells you the basics of it/how to do it and you can very clearly see the effect the "airbrushing" technique is doing to the face.

In his tutorial you aren't blurring or anything though, what you do is sample different areas of the skin and use a very soft brush at lower opacity and paint over the problem areas

The video is here

Re: Airbrush retouching

Probably a bit like the slickforce technique...
Sample with the Stamp and brush
