Dark colour to white!

Hi folks. I have to change this brown top to white. Does anyone have any quick fixes for such tasks. I can get it to light grey easily enough but I want to achieve a plausible 'blue' whiteness rather than just desaturated greys. Anyone have any tricks? The keyword is 'quick' here!

Did you try to blend a blue layer (screen Mode) with your gray one

Re: Dark colour to white!

That's the sort of route I'm interested in Chillin. On extreme colour changes I generally like to mask the object, make it solid white and then use CMYK channels as masks to rebuild the layers of tone. Great results but it ain't quick!

I used 3 curves layers gradually pushing it to 240 at a light point. Its slow too.

Re: Dark colour to white!

Used a Lumina Invert Script-fu and set the result to lighten, did some hue/sat adjustments until happy.

Re: Dark colour to white!

Looks good, but aren't the shadows inverted?

Re: Dark colour to white!

Believe the transition point blended well here (i.e, there still is a perceived shadow under the collar). The fold transistions looked alright to me too (but have to admit, I didn't look that hard at it). This technique doesn't always work, but it looked like it pulled it off to me here. Thanks for the comments Chillin.
