I'll have a play with that LAB technique - some interesting possibilities there. I'm not interested in beauty per se but the techniques carry over to other types of work. It's all about light, shade and texture anyways whatever you're working on. I've been working at the high end for twenty years and I'm still learning so any new ideas are most welcome.
IMO The most important quality in a retoucher is discipline. That job you worked on at midnight better be as good as the one you did in the morning.
