Help on evening out shadows on face

Hi guys,

New to the forum here and already posting a problem

If you zoom on the dark side of her face on the picture here

you'll see that the shadows are not even. There are irregular light areas in the shadows.

Can somebody explain to me how could I even out the shadows on her face in an efficient way ?

I know I could dodge/burn these areas or paint them with a soft & low opacity brush with skin tone color but ... I was wondering if there was a more global approach consisting of selecting the whole dark half face and then do something... But what ?

Another problem is about the lips. On the dark side of the upper lip, there is a highlighted area (which I will remove). But what gives me trouble is that, just under the highlight, the lip color & texture seems wrong. How can I fix the lip there ?

Thanks for your help if you have any idea !

You could make a levels or curves adj. layer and then mask the unwanted areas, probably have to attach a sat/hue adj. layer above (clipped) to desaturate the lower layer (a bit). As for the lip I just think you got a purplish cast on the shadows that may interact with the lipstick colour. But I may be wrong, since the shot is a bit out of focus, I cannot see any discrepancy of texture really...

Ronfya, have you tried Image>Adjust>Shadow/Highlight?

Try duplicate layer, create layer mask, select the mask, apply image, blending mode multiply, select invert, click ok, switch blending mode of the layer to screen, adjust opacity. That work like fill light in adobe camera raw.
