Re: Skin smoothing - modification of degrunge

byRo's technique is pretty good. Two other techniques I like using (GIMP specific unfortunately) is ACE Grain Extract Overlay and Wavelet Decompose degrunging (won't mention the complications of the the first, but Wavelet Dcompose is good for retaining freckle details while still cleaning up skin but does have side effects that require selective application only). Link to Wavelet Decompose below.

Re: Skin smoothing - modification of degrunge

Hope you don't mind the play. I also sometimes like using soft focus techniques too. Did use ACE Grain Extract Overlay degrunging as well.

Very nice. I am not a fan of soft focus but the end result is very good.

Could you explain "ACE Grain Extract Overlay degrunging"

Adam

There's another "Multi Scale" plug in at the Adobe Exchange named: Fixel Detailizer 2 PS:

It is similar to "Wavelet Decompose" in GIMP:
