Here is my layer palette and the picture.

The strange effect comes when I take the lowest three layers ("Layer 0", "eyes" and "blur") and press ctrl + alt + shift + E. This generates a new layer WITHIN the group - this is the one called "stamp" (with the don't mind this logo on it).

Hope this gives you a better idea :-)

That makes sense. If you want to create a new "stamp visible layer" you need to have the top layer selected. if you have lower layers selected the new layer will be created above the selected layer. Then all your adjustment layers above the new layer are, in fact, applied twice.

Aha! Now, that makes sense to me. Maybe some of you already suggested this and I just didn't understand it correctly :-)

I didn't know that the new layer would include all the adjustment layers. I just thought they worked only once but I guess that when you use "stamp visible" it includes all visible layers and not just the selected ones.
