Re: Retouch jewelry, urgent advice please I don't know if this will help, but I did a lot of cloning and painting over the spots on the inside of the ring, curves to enhance contrast, selected the background and cleaned and brightened, smoothed the ring surface, enhanced the saturation..... it's not perfect, but a big improvement.

Re: Retouch jewelry, urgent advice please It's better, but the problem is that I need to be brighter. Must look like the one attached.

Re: Retouch jewelry, urgent advice please Shame you have to match the sample as it's not that good. However, after cleaning the detail you can use Adjustments-Shadow/Highlights and move the sliders to taste. When you are in the zone make a copy layer and apply Overlay at reduced opacity. There are any number of routes but that's quick way! R.

| Re: Retouch jewelry, urgent advice please You will need a better image.... I made it smoother with some surface blur or median and masking, but you are trying to make something that didn't exist in the original image and it starts to look fake trying to smooth out the surface texture unless you do it very selectively being careful not to blur the edges. | Re: Retouch jewelry, urgent advice please I agree with Wolfman and others that you would (and perhaps you have) have to start with a better image. I also agree that it is too bad that you have to match the reference image - as it does not show off the traditional grandeur and brilliance of jewelry - but maybe then again, it's because the example is low res. But to start, I would lighten and color adjust - muting it to more closely match your reference. To smoothen the granular nature (again high res may not have it), I would use despeckle and brush back from history the detail areas. Just a note on Jewelry and any other manufactured item with shape and design. Keep nice clean lines and linear curves/angles, etc - even if the original doesn't have them. It just makes the representation of the image so much sharper and cleaner and higher quality. |

Re: Retouch jewelry, urgent advice please If you want a quick fix, a filter named Topaz Clean might help you with smoothing while retaining edges and some texture ... you'll need to experiment to get it right --shift studio.

Re: Retouch jewelry, urgent advice please Thank you all for the explanations. I don't expected to have so quick replies. Thanks all again. @Butch Can you give me some details about how you retouch the image ?
