Sorry -- DE is an abbreviation for Delaware, a state in the US. MI is an abbreviation for Michigan, also a state in the US. That's the United States of America, just south of Canada.

Ah ... the US - the good ol' U, S of A - yes I know what 'U.S.' stands for.

You gotta admit though, a good 6.75 billion people aren't going to know the state names in the United states, let alone the abbreviations

take care - I won't pester you further, enjoy your time here!

You've got a point. I hadn't thought of this site as being international, but looking at other locations I see that it is. And looking at other posts I see I'm way out of my depth here, a rank amateur among professionals.

Don't worry, I'd say a large percentage of users on RTP are amateurs.

For photoretouching I wouldn't say that there's a bewildering array of products from Adobe - there are a lot of apps relating to web graphics but there's only really Photoshop and Lightroom that specifically relate to editing photos.

I'm sure a lot of the alternatives will do a good job for certain types of work, but there's something to be said for using the 'industry standard' if you are relying on it for your income.

Re: What's in your retouching toolbox?

Hi - I have been restoring old photos for the last 4/5 year now it started as a hobby and now a business, its my bread and butter! The only software I have ever used for restorations is Photoshop CS6. I also use Photoshop for the Pop Out Photos which are created from the photographs I take.

Cool Re: What's in your retouching toolbox?

Hi, I'm a new member and still stumbling around the site. Not sure if this will post, but here goes. My toolbox consists of:
CC 2014 (yeah, I caved to The Man)
LR 5
Topaz Labs
Alien Skin Blow Up 3
my own PS actions & brushes that whittle down work flow issues
Intuos 5 wireless
MacBook Pro running on all 8 cylinders

Re: What's in your retouching toolbox?

PS CC 2014
CaptureOne Pro 8
MBP Retina 15 + DELLU2713H at the moment, my older (better) screen is gone and grabbed this cheap. Pretty good value for the money I've got it (500 USD) but not consistent enought for color critical work. Also almost impossible to get one without factory defects - mine suffers from red and green blotches on the sides - a common problem with wide gamut LG panels in cheaper displays. It's not something I'd be very pissed with because it's visible only on white or very neutral gray background.

I've said that before, but C1 Pro has a subscription model now, which is far more affordable for first time users.
