Retouch question. Do you know how to do this?

I love Markus and indrani's photos. They're like dreams.
I've been watching their show on TV and as they shoot, they show some of the photos. When I was watching the Lindsay Lohan photoshoot, the photos were very blue, and nothing special at all. But when I saw the retouched photos, I just loved them.
I've been trying to do this in photoshop but still can't achieve it completely.
Does anybody know a way to do this effect?

Sorry for the "RETOUCHE" misspelling.

Hard to say without seeing the originals, but looks like some solar curves applied to the background.

I don't know if I can find them, but I saw them on TV and they were nothing like these ones.

Maybe, solar curves. I think I'll give it a try.
Thanks!

I found the "unretouched version" of course it has some color correction, but there's not background effect.

Re: Retouch question. Do you know how to do this?

Hi
If was trying to get this effect, I would cut round the main image as a new layer, add it to the background (second layer), create a shadow around the main object and colour the shadow white (or whatever colour) so that it outlines the main subject - place the two layers together and I would imagine you wouldn't be far off achieving the look you want!
