Color Adjustments! What's your method of choice? Hey Everyone... So we know that there are 5 millions ways to do the same thing in photoshop. I find this true with color adjustments... curves, selective color, color balance, gradient maps, hue/saturation, etc. Is there a real difference between these and what are the pros/cons of each? Which method do you like to use and why? Discuss amongst yourself... XO... David

Re: Color Adjustments! What's your method of choic It depends on what the adjustment is trying to achieve, but curves IMO are the most powerful and flexible. They're usually my weapon of choice.

Re: Color Adjustments! What's your method of choic I know curves and selective color are 2 great tools for color adjustments, but I never know how to deal with those, although I use them every now and then... I prefer to use Camera Raw, Lab Color, Highlights and Shadows, or a B & W layer in Luminosity Mode, that way I have different ways of playing with the adjustments...

Re: Color Adjustments! What's your method of choic I use Curves a vast majority of the time. Hue/Saturation is another commonly used one. The rest of them very rarely.

| Re: Color Adjustments! What's your method of choic Show me the "problem" I'd show you my way. I told you in the other thread (if it's the same person :P ) You will have a different answer from every retoucher/photographer. The important thing is finding what ever is comfortable for you. | Re: Color Adjustments! What's your method of choic Hello- I try to use curves as much as possible. When I first started color correction I was told that Selective Color, Hue/Sat, etc. all forced the App. to pixel by pixel, determine what is a "blue" or a "red". This could create some digital artifacts from the retouch. I personally can't say I've seen the ill effects from this. But then again I have always abided by that reasoning. |
