Adding reflection to jewelry photo

I want to add a shadow or reflection to this photo because after I took the wax out from under the rings, it looks like they're just kind of hanging out in outer space. What's the best method to do this? I tried just inverting the photo, but it looked pretty lame

I flipped a duplicate vertically and put it under the original and faded the opacity of the flipped layer and added a faded graduate.

I don't know why when I did that it looked completely wack...
